Chameleon mica powder is the most magical series of pearlescent pigments, different from Interference / Rainbow / Iridescent series which has one interference color only, chameleon mica powder displays 2 or more different colors from different visual angle.
Imagine a car that seems to change color with every shift in perspective, or a nail polish that gleams with an iridescent sheen, where cosmetics, sneakers and even home décor such as wall paper can become a canvas for stunning and everchanging designs, chameleon mica powder can help you achieve.
At the microscopic level, chameleon mica powder are composed of thin, multilayered structures, we use synthetic mica or borosilicate glass flakes as core layer, coated layers are usually composed of metal oxides, the specific thickness layers interact with light in a unique way, resulting in their special color-shifting effect.
Advantages of using chameleon mica powder:
1. Ability to create a mesmerizing color-shifting effect.
2. Good compatibility. Chameleon mica powder has good dispersibility in various water-based and oily carriers, and can be used together with other types of transparent, translucent pigments and dyes, open a world of more creative possibilities.
3. Durability and Environmental friendly. As the color effect of chameleon mica powder comes from its multi-layers structure, which makes them far superior to organic pigments or dyes in terms of anti-fading, weather resistance, acid and alkali resistance, high temperature resistance, safety, and environmental protection.

How to choose the right chameleon mica powder for your project?
Chameleon mica powder come in a wide range of hues, particle size and chemical ingredients, the key factors to consider in making the right choice for your project are as follows:
1. Desired color shift.
Carefully observe the color card from different visual angles, and feel the color changes of chameleon pigment When the angle between the line of sight and the color card transitions from vertical to parallel.
2. Correct particle size.
Usually smaller particle size has better covering powder and tend to produce more subtle & naturally fluid color shift, while larger particle size has better brightness can create a bolder and multiple bright spots flashing effect.
For printing, the pigment particle size must be smaller than the mesh size of the screen.
For painting, the pigment particle size must be smaller than the inner diameter of spray gun nozzle.
3. Chemical ingredients.
Different chemical compositions often mean different physical and chemical properties. For example, pigments used in car paints or exterior wall coatings must be UV-resistant and yellowing-resistant; pearlescent pigments used in water-based systems may need to be hydrophilic to ensure good dispersion.
